Collaboration Agreement

Before we begin, please read this agreement. This sets the container & context in which you will get the outcome you want. It also covers some of the legality governing our relationship. Meghan Bursiek reserves the right to update this policy as needed. Last updated: September 2019.

Client Disclosure & Informed Consent

1. Alternative or complementary health care under the laws of a number of states: The person you will be working with is not licensed. That means that she is not a Medical Doctor, psychiatrist, psychologist, Masters in Family & Child Counseling, or a Master’s in Social Work. Nothing that happens here should be construed as a substitute for the advice of a licensed person.

2. What to expect: Your alternative practitioner has been trained in Transformational Coaching, Yoga, & Permaculture & Whole Systems Design. We will always provide only those services in which we have been trained, & if we find that we cannot help you, we will refer you to a licensed person who can assist you.

Our collaboration is not:
Dogmatic – Only you know your truth. I will not tell you the solutions to your problems. I will get curious & support you in discovering your answers.

Prescriptive or Diagnostic – You are not broken & you do not need to be fixed. I will not assign a label to you. I will support you in identifying what is preventing you from achieving the results you desire.

A Set System or Script – You are unique & so is our collaboration. I will not assume what worked in another collaboration will work in ours. I will create a container that allows us to organically explore together.

Our collaboration is:
A place to get curious. What motivates you? What challenges you? What inspires you?

A place to create change so that you can grow, expand, & become more empowered with choice.

A place to discover the thing behind the thing – What’s really getting in your way?

3. Your Choice, Your Responsibility: It is up to you to do the work between our sessions. If an agreement is made during a session, your commitment to the work will directly relate to your outcomes.

It is up to you to take personal responsibility of your experience & results. This includes saying the truth about yourself to yourself.

For our collaboration to be successful, you must show up – not only to our agreed upon sessions, but also show up for your Self.

During our sessions, we will offer you suggestions & other ways of looking at any & all presenting problems & its solutions for your consideration. You hereby agree that wheatear we discuss is only our perspective & is not binding upon you, nor is it prescription.

If you want to discuss our suggestions with someone else, you should discuss them with a licensed health care provider. It is your responsibility to confirm whether or not any changes we made produced the desired results. It is your responsibility to communicate your results to us. Our liability is limited to the amount paid for the work.

During your sessions we will use 1 or more of the following techniques:

Coaching: According the International Coach Federation,

“Professional coaching brings many wonderful benefits: fresh perspectives on personal challenges, enhanced decision-making skills, greater interpersonal effectiveness, & increased confidence. &, the list does not end there. Those who undertake coaching also can expect appreciable improvement in productivity, satisfaction with life and work, & the attainment of relevant goals.

ICF defines coaching as partnering with clients in a thought-provoking & creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal & professional potential, which is particularly important in today’s uncertain & complex environment. Coaches honor the client as the expert in his or her life & work & believe every client is creative, resourceful & whole. Standing on this foundation, the coach’s responsibility is to:

  • Discover, clarify, & align with what the client wants to achieve
  • Encourage client self-discovery
  • Elicit client-generated solutions & strategies
  • Hold the client responsible & accountable

This process helps clients dramatically improve their outlook on work & life, while improving their leadership skills & unlocking their potential.”

Your practitioner will complete a 200-hour Master Life Coach Certification November 13, 2019.

Yoga: According to the Yoga Alliance,

“Yoga is a system, not of beliefs, but of techniques & guidance for enriched living. Among Yoga’s many source texts, the two best known are the Yoga Sutras & the Bhagavad Gita. Both explain the nature of – & obstacles to – higher awareness & fulfillment, as well as a variety of methods for attaining those goals.

As in any field, some aspects of Yoga are too subtle to be learned from books or lectures; they must be acquired through experience. Hence Yoga’s time-honored emphasis on the student-teacher relationship, in which the teacher helps the student develop a practice that brings deeper understanding through personal experience.

Since the individual experience of Yoga is quite personal & may differ for each practitioner, there are a wide variety of approaches to its practice. Yoga has in recent times branched out in many new directions, some of which are quite different from its traditional emphases. All approaches to Yoga, however, are intended to promote some aspect(s) of wellbeing.”

Your practitioner has completed a 200-hour Yoga Alliance certified training in Expressive Healing Arts with teachers Ashleigh Sergeant & Sofiah Thom.

Permaculture: According to the Permaculture Institute,

“Permaculture is a design discipline based on a set of ethics & the foundational principles of the natural world. Permaculturists apply what they learn from nature & traditional land based cultures to the human environment, developing ways to ecologically produce food, create shelter, store water, design economic & governance systems, & meet human needs via informed ecological design.

The aim is to develop human communities that improve the environment of life so that all may flourish. With decades of development & growth, Permaculture offers a leading environmental & social transformation methodology & movement.”

Your practitioner has completed a 72-hour Permaculture Design Course & is a certified Permaculture Design Consultant with the Permaculture Institute. Your practitioner is governed by the Permaculture Ethics:

  • To care for the Earth; to repair & conserve.
  • To seek peace, & to guard human rights everywhere.
  • To invest all capital, intelligence, goodwill, & labor to these ends.
